Financial Analyst (Technical Insurance)

Finitas are delighted to be supporting a leading Lloyd's (Re)insurer who're seeking an experienced Financial Analyst for a 12-month contract.

Pay rate: up to £650 per day (Inside IR35)

Duration: 12 months

Location / Working Patterns: London, UK, - Hybrid - 2 days on site

Start Date: ASAP

The Project:

You will be tasked with reviewing historical financial data which is to be migrated to a new technical sub-ledger. This project is crucial in the lead up to a large-scale implementation of a new SAP ledger.

The Candidate:

Essential -

  • An excellent understanding of Reinsurance or insurance accounting (Essential)
  • Prior experience working on Financial Transformation projects
  • Ability to work confidently with & manipulate very large data sets and to refine data (distillation) - communicating data with a range of stakeholders at different seniority levels.
  • Strong technical experience - Advanced Excel Skills (Essential)
  • An understanding of Financial Reporting - (ideally: US GAAP and UK GAAP)
  • You must have a working understanding on how premium recognition is calculated (EPI vs Ultimate/Actuarial premium vs signed premium, and how this interacts with deferral indicators and earnings patterns)
  • You must bring an understanding of how IBNR is calculated
  • You must be an excellent, detail-orientated problem solver with the ability to work effectively as part of the wider finance team.

Desierable -

  • Strong technical skills in SQL and VBA
  • ACA/CIMA/ACCA Qualified
  • GAAP (US, UK, Lux, Spanish ) and IFRS

Extremely desirable-

  • An excellent understanding of insurance Accounting (particularly Reinsurance Accounting)
  • Extensive US GAAP experience
  • An MI or Accounting Ops background
  • IRIS Genius / Alteryx experience

Summary of Key responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include reviewing historical data from various sources, supporting the development and execution of Alteryx models for data consolidation, preparing reports for migration data reviews, and validating data integrity. The role involves enhancing systems, documenting controls, assisting with data migration for the FPSL workstream, and improving processes. Building strong internal relationships, participating in working groups, and adhering to regulatory and conduct requirements are essential, alongside ensuring compliance with rules related to financial crime, data protection, and customer treatment.
