Delegated Authority Scheme Underwriter - City of London (Hybrid, 2 Days on-site)

I am working with a reputable insurance firm in the City of London to find a Delegated Authority Scheme Underwriter. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience in delegated authority account management to take on a key role in managing and maximising the potential of delegated authority schemes.

The Role:

As a Delegated Authority Scheme Underwriter, you will be responsible for managing a designated panel of brokers and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive the profitable growth of delegated authority schemes. You will take a proactive approach in identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring schemes operate efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, taking full ownership of generating profitable business.
  • Collaborate across Underwriting and Operations to review scheme performance, identify growth opportunities, and enhance profitability.
  • Analyse underperforming accounts, working with Senior Underwriters to implement improvement actions.
  • Participate in the planning and setting of departmental KPIs and budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate account servicing, assist with premium collection, and support credit control processes.
  • Support junior team members by acting as a technical referral point and contributing to their development.
  • Perform regular analysis of accounts and prepare reports for internal and external meetings.
  • Attend binder renewal meetings, preparing and presenting renewal proposals to the Underwriting Committee.
  • Assist in annual cover holder audits, write audit reports, and follow up on audit recommendations.
  • Provide insights on competitors, market conditions, and product improvements to senior management.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating underwriting guides, rating structures, and business documentation as required.

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience managing delegated authority accounts, ideally from an insurance carrier or MGA.
  • Proven relationship management skills with excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the UK insurance market, including regulatory requirements and underwriting practices.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to write reports and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CII qualification or equivalent.
  • Advanced Excel and presentation skills.
  • Degree-level education.
