Motor Underwriter (Personal Lines) - City of London (Hybrid, 2 Days on-site)

I'm working with a well-established and expanding insurance firm based in the City of London to help find an experienced Motor Underwriter for their personal lines business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong motor underwriting experience to join a dynamic team and contribute to the continued growth and success of the company.

About the Role:

As a Motor Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting personal motor insurance policies and managing both new and existing business. You will have the opportunity to provide technical support, develop relationships with brokers, and ensure policies are managed in line with the company's guidelines and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite personal motor insurance policies within established guidelines and authority levels.
  • Provide quotes, underwrite new business, and renew existing policies, while negotiating pricing where appropriate.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with brokers, offering technical expertise and ensuring high-quality service.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by addressing queries efficiently and ensuring timely and accurate policy documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Claims, Finance, and IT to ensure smooth policy management and process improvement.

About You:

  • A minimum of 5 years of motor underwriting experience, with a preference for personal lines expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of motor insurance products, processes, and underwriting principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively or independently as required.
  • A CII qualification is desirable but not essential.
